 Education
Through the monthly newsletter, The Communicator, SCWBA strives to keep you informed and up to date of industry information and standards. Speakers are frequently brought into the General Membership meetings to both inform and entertain our members.

SCWBA conducts a Home Building Seminars each Spring to educate the public on the new home building process, and is held at a local bank on a weeknight evening. This has been a well attended event open to the public, and FREE.

As a member of WBA and NAHB, various educational opportunities are available to you on a state and national level, as well as continuing education courses, spokesperson and leadership training for members in leadership positions.

STUDENT CHAPTERS
The Education Committee recently formed two Student Chapters - one at Parker High School, and one at Craig High School to give students interested in construction an opportunity to learn more about the building industry first hand.  They did a great job in 2006 constructing two sheds which were donated to the Rock County Habitat for Humanity Chapter.

Ongoing activities are planned for these students through the SCWBA Education Committee and the Tech Ed teachers at Parker and Craig High Schools which includes Speakers, on-site visits to local businesses involved with the building industry.

The 2007 Shed Build was May 5 & 6 in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Janesville.  Various members of SCWBA support this project through their donations of materials and time.  The sheds built by the students in May 2007 were purchased through a Silent Auction Bid process with all proceeds going towards the Student Chapters to help fund future chapter activities.
